The Marian Apparitions of Akita, Fatima and Amsterdam: A Comparison

Below is a table comparing the Church-approved Marian apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Akita, and Our Lady of All Nations in Amsterdam:

  Fatima Amsterdam Akita
Background In 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three children (Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta) Fatima, Portugal. In 1945, the Blessed Virgin Mary started to appear to Ida Peedeman, single, a layman in Amsterdam. 28 years after Fatima. In 1973, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Sr. Agnes Sasagawa in Akita, Japan. 28 years after Amsterdam.
Principal Messages Gave “three secrets”. First secret: vision of the hell. Second secret: prophecy of the forthcoming Second World War, warming on Russia and atheistic Communism, annihilation of several nations, conversion of Russia period peace given to the world. Third secret: a vision interpreted as threat of chastisement hanging over the world but for the powerful intervention of Our Lady; the suffering/martyrdom of religious, especially the Holy Father. The whole world is degenerating and thus, the Son sends her as the Lady of All Nations. Gives design of picture wherein she stands in front of the Cross because she is Co-Redemptrix. The Heavenly Father is preparing to inflict a great chastisement on all mankind. Work of the devil will infiltrate the Church. Our Lady of Akita statue patterned after Lady of All Nations wherein the Blessed Virgin stands in front of the Cross, thus implying that she is Co-Redemptrix, as in Amsterdam.
Request Daily rosary, wearing of scapular, offering of daily duty, individual consecration to Our Lady, First Saturday devotion, the collegial consecration of Russia by Pope and bishops. Gives a short prayer for everybody asking the Son to send the Holy Spirit that all nations may be preserved from degeneration, disaster, and war. That she be declared as Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix, and Advocate (fifth Marian dogma). Once dogma is declared, she will give “true peace” to the world. Daily Rosary. Pray for the Pope, bishops, and priests. Asks for prayer, penance and sacrifices to soften the Father’s anger.
Church Stand On Oct. 13, 1930, local bishop declared apparitions worthy of credence and authorizes cult of Our Lady of Fatima. On May 31, 2002, local Bishop declared apparitions “supernatural”. On April 22, 1984, local Bishop declared events “supernatural.”
Aftermath Fulfillment of prophecies on Second World War, rise of Communism in Russia and in the other Countries, suffering and persecution of religious (including attempted assassination of Pope John Paul II), eventual collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe. Establishment of Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima to comply with Our Lady’s requests. Picture-prayer of Our Lady of All Nations spreads worldwide. Rise of International movement requesting the Pope to declare the 5th Marian dogma. To date, dogma has not been declared. No new apostolate was formed to respond to the Akita message because Bishop John S. Ito (Bishop of Niigata) said that Akita is an update of Fatima. Thus, propagation is still the work of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima and other Marian groups.
