How to Practice the Divine Mercy Devotion

The Bible and the liturgy of the Church have, for so long, spoken of God’s mercy. The Sacraments of Reconciliation, for example, is a manifestation of God’s Mercy. In our times, however, God has given us additional channels of mercy through St. Faustina. What are these?

Three O 'Clock Prayer

This prayer is central to the divine mercy devotion and is said at 3:00 p.m., the time Jesus died. The prayer can be said in only a minute. Below is a text of the prayer:

You died, Jesus, but the source of life flowed out for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, immeasurable Divine Mercy, cover the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water which flowed out from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, we trust in You..

(3x) Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, Have Mercy on us and the whole world.

Nine Day Novena

This starts Good Friday and precedes the Feast of Divine Mercy, The Sunday after Easter. Jesus told Sr. Faustina that the Novena prayers should be supplemented with works of mercy.

Feast of Divine Mercy

In the liturgy of the Church, this is celebrated the Sunday after Easter. Adding to the Church’s treasury of indulgences, Our said that any soul who will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on this day shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and remission of punishment.
